Background of CAC

Cashew nut Association of Cambodia, CAC, was initially called Cashew nut Association of Kampong Thom, CAT. CAT was jointly established by the Ministry of Commerce and cashew nut stakeholders in 2009. CAT was committed to working with farmers by supporting them with technical assistance and connecting them to exporters. The only market that CAT heavily depended on was Vietnam’s, providing supplies of raw cashew nuts to exporters. CAT was required to register officially with the Ministry of Interior in 2018. Because of the potential demand from ten other provinces, CAT has decided to change its brand name to Cashew nut Association of Cambodia, CAC, and has been formally registered and recognized in the Ministry of Interior in mid-2020. Along with offering technical and logistical support to farmers and exporters, CAC has extended its roles to include bolstering the development of local cashew nut processors. CAC aims to create local jobs and to reduce the need for migrant workers.

 

 

Vision: To become a domestic and global leader in facilitating the production and marketing of Cambodian cashews.

Mission: To contribute to the alleviation of poverty in accordance with government policy and to strengthen the image of the cashew nut industry in both national and international arenas.
